Tonight's Game (Oct 15)

Between now and February (when the NBC contract kicks in) Sundays will be very light and tonight there is just one game on the schedule. This makes it an easy choice for...

GAME OF THE NIGHT

Dallas at Anaheim - 8 pm

Since tonight's NFL Sunday nighter will be over in the first quarter it's too bad that this battle of undefeated teams (not including shootout losses) won't be available as an alternative to the US National audience. But for those of us who will be able to watch this one it should be a good one.

The Ducks come in to the game with the league's #2 powerplay, clicking at 31.8% so the challenge for Dallas and their #7 ranked PK squad will be to shutdown Selanne, Kunitz, Perry, Niedermayer, Pronger and Co. The Stars are led by their new Captain Brendan Morrow (I'm still a bit confused why Modano isn't the Captain anymore) and a healthy Eric Lindros, who has put up 5 points in 4 games.

Since Dallas had a game last night (if you could call it that) against LA there is a chance that Dallas backup goalie Mike Smith will get his first NHL start but my bet is on Turco. For the Ducks, Giguere has started 3 of the first four and seems to be the #1 guy so far. Dallas has won 7 of the past 9 meetings between these two teams.

Pick: Anaheim 5, Dallas 4
