After scoring just 10 goals in their first six games, the Sens absolutely exploded for 8 goals at home against New Jersey. Brodeur got the hook after allowing six goals on twenty shots.

The Sens got a pair of goals from Vermette and McAmmond, and Spezza had a goal and two assists. Tom Preissing and Volchenkov were each +5, yet somehow Wade Redden was a -1 with no points and is pointless in seven games (after recording 50 pts and 15 multi-point games last season.
