Tonight's Game

Buffalo at NY Rangers - 5 PM (Biron v Lundqvist) Edit: Weekes got the start again

As usual it's a light Sunday with the Sabres travelling to New York. The Sabres are facing a little adversity for the first time this year as they are coming off their first regulation time loss as well as a key injury to Afinogenov. It will be interesting to see how they respond tonight. They do have great scoring depth which will certainly help to soften the loss of their most explosive player and leading scorer.

For the year the Rangers have been inconsistent, winning 7 of their first 13, but they return home after a rare road trip out West where they won three of four. After back-to-back wins in Anaheim and San Jose the Rangers may be starting to heat up. They're led by the dynamic due of Jagr and Shanahan and a pretty good supporting cast that includes Nylander, Straka and Prucha. There have been rumours that the Rangers are looking for help on defence and may be dangling Prucha to try and get someone like Seabrook out of Chicago. That wouldn't be a bad idea as the Rangers have had problems keeping the puck out of the net.

The big story out of New York may be a goaltending controversy. Henrik Lundqvist has really struggled and Kevin Weekes won both games this past week. In his 10 starts, Lundqvist has given up 4 or more goals six times. I think Renney will give him the chance to turn things around but there is no doubt that Weekes will start stealing more and more starts if this trend continues.

The last time these two teams met the Sabres won 7-4 in New York.

In other news..
* Mike Comrie will miss up to a month with a broken foot - he will have surgery early this week according to TSN.
